What is Luv-A-Bull

What is Luv-A-Bull?

The Luv-a-Bull Pit Bull Rescue program is a primarily volunteer based, non-profit organization created to rescue and re-home Pit Bulls. Luv-A-Bull began in 1999. LAB foster dogs live either at our main kennel facility or in a network of foster homes. Our dogs come from a variety of situations. The majority of our dogs are rescued from high kill-shelters. We evaluate, treat, approach and place every Luv-a-Bull dog as a unique individual. Although there are general tendencies, we’ve found that every dog has an unique personality based on their genetics, background experiences, training, and environment while maturing. We place each dog into the home environment best suited for their individual temperament and needs, and best suited to the expectations and lifestyle of the adoptive family.Every dog LAB accepts is given a complete health examination, spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm, and given all vaccinations. We only choose dogs that have never shown human aggression. We spend a lot of time with the dogs, getting to know each one, their personalities, and unique qualities. Because historically, Pit Bulls were originally bred to be fighting and hunting dogs, they can sometimes be aggressive with other dogs of the same sex. Some Pit Bulls also have a strong “prey drive” and some should not live with cats or other small animals. Living with a dog is a big responsibility. We educate all potential adoptive families about their choice of breed, their general breed traits and strengths and weaknesses. Pit Bulls are eager to please, great companion dogs and very trainable. Many Pit Bulls live harmoniously with other dogs and other animal species. The Luv-a-Bull program also uses the resources of the Pit Bull Rescue Central organization and PETFINDER.com, which provide a national website for listing adoptable dogs. We screen all applicants, check references, and are very careful about where we place the dogs. The adoption fees range from $150-300. Adopters read and sign an adoption contract for the protection of all concerned, including the dog. We take these precautions because we are dedicated to finding our dogs permanent, loving, responsible homes.

Luv-A-Little

The Luv-A-Little Program rescues small breed dogs from high-kill animal shelters. Our dogs are temperment tested, spayed and neutered, microchipped and vaccinated. Most dogs are under three years of age. We do have some special needs dogs available. Adoption fees range from $ 150-350. The majority of our small breed dogs are Shih-tzus, Poodles and Poodle mixes and Terriers. Most weigh under 20 pounds.

They don't know that some people are afraid of them. They assume that everyone loves them. They make great family dogs. Depending on their history, some do better in homes without cats. Adoption Process

Adopting a dog is a huge responsibility. We educate all potential Pit Bull adoptive families about the breed, particularly their instinct to fight with other dogs and chase small animals. The rewards of living with a Pit Bull are many. Pit Bulls are eager to please, great companion dogs and trainable. Most Pit Bulls live harmoniously with other dogs and other animal species. The Luv-a-Bull program also uses the resources of the Pit Bull Rescue Central organization and PETFINDER.com, which provide a national website for listing adoptable dogs. Those interested in adopting can view dogs and their biographies and submit an application to the foster parents or those responsible for the animal. In this way, we are able to get more exposure for our dogs to potential homes and also receive an application and a way to screen and evaluate potential adopters. The PBRC website also provides a great deal of information about the breed. We recommend everyone interested in adopting a Pit Bull to look up the PBRC website, at www.pbrc.netWe screen all applicants, usually do a home check, ask for references, and are very careful about where we place the dogs. The adoption fee ranges from $ 150-300.. We ask the adoptive parents to read and sign an adoption contract for the protection of all concerned, including the dog. We go to these extremes because Pit Bulls are too often the victims of abuse and neglect, and we are dedicated to finding our dogs permanent, loving, responsible homes!

Step 1: Review available dogs on our site and Petfinder.com Step 2: Download Adoption Application in either Word or Adobe format. Fill it out and email it to lkwpb_rosenet.net. The Word doc will allow you to fill it in on your computer. If you need the Adobe doc, you will need to print it out and mail it to: Luv-A-Bull PO Box 50367 Eugene, Oregon Step 3: Luv-A-Bull staff reviews application and contacts you within 5 business days Step 4: If approved, Luv-A-Bull staff schedules an appointment with you to meet prospective dogs.

Luv-A-Bull does not accept owner-surrendered or stray dogs. To surrender your own dog, contact your local Humane Society. If you have found a stray dog, contact your local animal control agency.
